description.

Materials were designed for a local art exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento California. Using images from the traveling show and the museum, I enhanced the current exhibit materials and design to reflect the artist and tell a story.

goals.

The most important aspect when designing was
to respect and showcase the artist’s work while supporting it with my own design. After hearing from the artist (Akinsanya Kambon), and seeing his work, I focused my design around the exhibit name: Roots. Because his style of art is unexpected and sometimes a little rough, I wove in hand-drawn elements such as lines and tracings to mirror the style of his work. The color pallet used was rich earthy tones highlighted with a bright teal blue, all colors pulled from his ceramic work in the exhibit.
